Oürkai
Last updated: 30 September 2026
Oürkai (the “App”) is a Chinese-metaphysics and personal-reflection app for iOS, operated by RP Creative Consulting LLC (“we,” “us”), a small developer in the United States. The services behind the App run at insightsguide.app, which is why this page lives there.
Questions, requests, or corrections: support@ourkai.io.
Your email address and password. Authentication runs on Supabase Auth; passwords are only ever stored hashed, and we never see them. You may also add a display name, nickname, and a handle — a unique username used for social features.
To calculate your BaZi chart we collect your date of birth, time of birth, and place of birth, and derive the timezone that applied there. Birth data can reveal your exact age and, combined with other details, can identify you. We protect it with database row-level security, never sell it, and never use it for marketing.
Your handle and whichever profile details you choose to make discoverable — which may include a short bio, age, gender, height, photos, prompts, work and education, relationship intention, interests, and social handles. Also your direct messages, connection activity (requests, reveals, appreciations), compatibility readings you run with other members, your block list, and any reports you file.
Profile and discovery photos you upload are stored in our Supabase Storage. Who sees them in the App is governed by your visibility settings and the mutual reveal flow described below. Please be aware that photos are kept in a public storage bucket: each photo has a direct web address, built from your account's ID, and anyone who has that address can open the photo without signing in. The bucket's contents are not publicly listed, but holding a photo's direct address bypasses the visibility settings in the App.
Location is used in one place: the Feng Shui “measure your space” flow, which asks iOS for permission to read your compass heading and to place your home on a map. Address lookup happens on your device via Apple's own geocoder — no third-party geocoding service is involved. We store the resulting space profile (facing direction, footprint, and details you enter) and, if you scan or add one, a floor-plan image, which is kept in private storage. There is no background location tracking. Separately, the “where you are now” field on your profile is free text that you type; we do not derive it from GPS.
When you subscribe through Apple In-App Purchase we receive and store the product identifier, transaction identifiers, subscription status, and expiry date, so we can unlock your plan. We never receive your card details — those stay with Apple.
If you enter someone else's birth details for a compatibility or chart lookup, you are responsible for having a proper basis to share them with us. We use them only for the reading you asked for, protect them as we protect your own, and delete them with your account.
If you ask it to, the App adds your Oürkai events to your iPhone's Apple Calendar, in a separate “Oürkai” calendar, using the calendar permission you grant in iOS. This happens on your device. The App only creates, updates, and removes the events it added; it does not read the events in your other calendars.
Google Calendar appears in the App as “coming soon.” It cannot be connected in the current App, and we currently hold no Google account tokens.
| Purpose | What it uses |
|---|---|
| Create and secure your account | Email, hashed password, server logs |
| Calculate your chart and daily guidance | Birth data, and the chart derived from it |
| Write your readings, Today and Guide replies with AI, once you agree to it | Derived chart attributes, your messages, your in-app context |
| Social features you opt into | Handle, profile, messages, connection activity |
| Send notifications you enable | Push token, device info |
| Subscriptions and credits | Apple transaction data, credit usage |
| Keep the service working and honest | Rate-limit counters, server logs, crash reports, internal AI cost logs |
| Safety and legal compliance | Reports, blocks, moderation records |
We do not use your data for advertising, and we do not sell or “share” it as those terms are defined by California law.
Readings, Today and Guide conversations are generated by large language models from Anthropic (Claude) and OpenAI, acting as our service providers. AI generation is part of the service itself: almost everything the App shows you is written this way. We want to be exact about what leaves our servers.
Before any of your information goes to OpenAI or Anthropic, the App shows a screen of its own, titled “Oürkai is written with AI.” It names both companies and what is sent: your chart, as calculated from your birth details (the derived attributes described below, not your raw birth record), and what you write or log — Guide chats, intentions, reflections, journal notes and mood check-ins. It is used only to create and personalize your content. This screen is separate from agreeing to the Terms and this policy, and nothing on it is chosen for you. New accounts see it while setting up; existing accounts that have not agreed see it when they next open the App.
Nothing is sent to either provider until you choose “Agree and continue,” and your answer is saved with your account before the App goes any further — if it cannot be saved, nothing is sent and you can try again. Because the App cannot work without AI, agreeing is a condition of using it:
Content our servers prepare in advance, such as Today’s reading, is generated only for accounts whose current answer is yes. Your answer is stored with your account, so it carries across reinstalls and devices. If you turn AI off while your device is offline, it is off on that device straight away and takes effect on our servers once your device reconnects while you are signed in; if you sign out first, it is sent the next time you sign in on that device.
TODO(owner): counsel to confirm the lawful basis (contract vs consent) and this wording, and that DPAs with OpenAI and Anthropic are in place, before App Review.
Before profile data is sent, a filter removes raw birth date, birth time, birth place, coordinates, email, phone, address, and name fields. The models receive the meaning of your chart rather than the birth record behind it. Bear in mind, though, that the four pillars are themselves derived from your birth date and time, so they can be used to work out your approximate date and time of birth.
That filter removes known fields from structured data. It does not rewrite free text. Anything you type into a conversation is sent to the AI provider as you wrote it, including any personal details you choose to include — and that text is also used to build your Guide memory notes. Please use your judgement about what you share in chat. In a few places where you type a short intention, we do strip anything shaped like an email address or phone number first.
One chart-calculation service, Chinese Metasoft, can be called to build part of the Feng Shui profile, and when it is called it receives raw birth date, birth time, and gender. It is the one third party that sees birth data in unfiltered form, and we would rather say so than let the summary above imply otherwise. The current version of the App no longer calls this service, but the server endpoint that calls it still exists and was used by earlier versions of the App. TODO(owner): confirm the data-processing agreement covering this service
We keep an internal record of the feature, model, token counts, and timing of each AI request, from which we work out cost, for accounting and abuse prevention. We do not store the prompt or the completion text in those logs.
We share personal information only with the providers needed to run the App:
| Provider | Role | What it sees |
|---|---|---|
| Supabase | Database, authentication, file storage, realtime | All account and app data described here |
| Vercel | API hosting | Request data and server logs |
| Anthropic | Readings and Guide conversations, only after you agree to AI processing | Derived chart data, conversation text, and the intentions, reflections, journal notes and mood check-ins used to personalize them |
| OpenAI | Readings, conversations, classification, only after you agree to AI processing | Derived chart data, conversation text, and the intentions, reflections, journal notes and mood check-ins used to personalize them |
| Chinese Metasoft | Chart calculation (not called by the current App; see above) | Raw birth date, birth time, gender |
| Apple | In-App Purchase and subscription notices | Transaction and subscription data |
| Expo | Push notification delivery | Push token and notification content |
| Sentry | Crash and error reporting | Error and crash diagnostics (such as the error, the code path, device and app version, and recent app events) linked to your account's user ID, plus app-session counts used to measure crash rates. Not analytics: no behavioural or performance tracking. Before sending, we remove sign-in tokens and web-address query strings, and on our servers also cookies and request bodies; crash reports captured directly by the iOS layer are sent as captured |
| Resend | Delivery of account emails, behind Supabase Auth | Your email address and the message |
| Calendar — shown as “coming soon”; not currently connectable | Nothing today |
If you send us feedback through the App, our team may copy it — including what you wrote — into our private issue tracker on GitHub in order to fix the problem.
We may also disclose information where the law requires it, to protect people's rights and safety, or as part of a business transfer — in which case we would tell you about any change of ownership affecting your data.
Everyone in discovery sees a small card: your first and last name, your profile photo, your day-master element, and a compatibility score. If you have opted into discovery, members also see the profile details you chose to make visible — bio, age, gender, city, prompts, work, education, interests, social handles, and your chart summary — each governed by your own visibility settings.
Additional photos unlock only through the mutual reveal flow, which requires both people to ask. Blocking someone hides each of you from the other across messaging, discovery, compatibility, and profiles.
Your readings, journals, moods, and Guide conversations are private to you. They are never shown to other members. Our profile API never returns your email, your birth date or time, or your coordinates to another member, and our database lets each account read only its own profile record. Beyond what the profile API shows under your visibility settings, members you are connected with can fetch only display details — name, handle, day-master element, profile photo, and the social handles you have not hidden — and only while you are connected and neither of you has blocked the other.
Connections, discovery, and messaging are for adults. The App does not let an account whose birth date shows it is under 18 turn on discovery or browse the discovery feed, leaves such accounts out of discovery and search results, and refuses new connection and message requests to or from them.
You can also ask us to delete your data, or send you a copy of it, by email — see your rights.
No system is perfectly secure. If we discover a breach affecting your personal information, we will notify you as the law requires.
Oürkai is rated 17+ and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 17, and never from a child under 13. The App is not subject to COPPA, because it is neither directed to children nor knowingly collecting their data. If you believe a child has made an account, contact us and we will delete it. The social features (connections, discovery, and messaging) are limited further, to adults 18 and over — see what other members can see.
If you live in California, or another US state with a comprehensive privacy law, you have the right to:
To exercise them, use the in-app tools or email support@ourkai.io from the address on your account, so we can confirm it is you. You may use an authorised agent; we will verify their authority. We do not currently respond to browser “Do Not Track” signals — the App is not a website and does not follow you across sites.
We operate from the United States, and your data is processed there.
For any of these requests: support@ourkai.io.
Push notifications are optional — turn them on or off in iOS Settings or in the App. Turning them off stops delivery, and tokens are revoked on our side when unregistered. Email from us is limited to service messages such as sign-in links, confirmations, and password resets, sent through our authentication provider. We do not run marketing email lists; if that ever changes, we will offer an opt-out and update this page first.
The current version always lives at www.insightsguide.app/privacy with an updated date above. For material changes we will also tell you in the App.
